Cyber Security Engineer job summary

The Cam Academy Trust is looking for an experienced Cyber Security Engineer to help us maintain the security of our IT systems and network. This is an exciting new role working within our IT Support team. Your duties will include protecting system boundaries٫ keeping computer systems, cloud infrastructure, and network devices hardened against attacks and securing highly sensitive data.

The Trust works to push the boundaries of technology, aiming to lead the way in the use of Cloud and one-to-one technology in education to enhance the learning experience across its multiple school sites.

The Security of information and systems presents one of the biggest risks and opportunities for all organisations today. Internal and external attacks are becoming more complex whilst the balance of enabling our staff and students to use our services in a cost-effective manner must be met.

The ability to electronically collect, analyse, present, and respond to logged information obtained from network devices, connected computing devices, application logs, databases, identity and access management systems, operating systems, policy compliance tools vulnerability/threat management tools, etc underpins the security operations of our systems.

You will need to have excellent communication and problem-solving skills as you will be working primarily on your own under the direction of the Trust IT Manager. This role is highly technical requiring a considerable understanding of underlying network technologies.

The successful candidate should be enthusiastic about solving problems in the threat detection and security response space and possess both deep and wide expertise in the security space and have a background in security or systems engineering.

Welcome to The Cam Academy Trust and to our Academies. We are delighted that you are interested in us and the high-quality education that our Academies seek to provide.

It is my privilege to oversee the work of our Academies and to report to our trustees regarding this. Every Academy has its own Principal or Head of School who reports to me and works to ensure the best possible education in their own Academy. They work with their own team of high-quality staff and staff across our Academies work with each other to seek to ensure that all our pupils are very well educated and achieve high standards. Each Academy’s individual prospectus will give details of this.

Our over-arching purpose is simple: we want to secure educational excellence for all, with our Academies working at the heart of and serving their local communities.
