Passionate about inspiring young people? Join us in inspiring the lively little learners at Harris Primary Academy Mayflower as a Dance Teacher.

Our dedicated team provides a supportive network both onsite as well as support across the Federation to ensure all our staff feel encouraged to do their best. You will be part of a community of dedicated, friendly staff standing by and upholding its mission in creating and maintaining a supportive and thriving learning environment.

This role is offered on a part-time basis (three days per week)

The successful candidate will have:

  • Previous teaching experience.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Energetic, driven, creative, and dependable.
  • Demonstrate patience and leadership skills.
  • Ability to motivate and encourage students
  • Ability to teach using various dance styles and methodologies from beginner to advanced level.
  • Ability to communicate with a diverse group of teachers and students.
  • The ability to engage, encourage, and motivate students to reach their goals.

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a degree in Dance or Performing Arts are desirable, but not essential.

Harris Primary Academy Mayflower is a successful academy that was judged outstanding in every category in our May 2017 Ofsted inspection.

We are a 5 form entry primary school, opening with a Reception cohort and are growing by a year group at a time with currently 902 pupils on roll from Nursery to Year 6. This will make our academy, which was funded under the free school programme with backing from Thurrock council, the Department for Education and the Harris Federation which sponsors the free school, the biggest primary free school in the country.

Further details about the role

Your responsibilities will include:

  • To develop dance curriculums and prepare lesson plans;
  • To form various dance curriculums and implementation of different developmental activities;
  • To evaluate student performance and make recommendations for improvement;
  • To choreograph routines and select music for recitals and concerts;
  • To provide a fun, creative environment;
  • To demonstrate methods and techniques of dances.
