Data and Systems Lead job summary

Job title: Data and Systems Lead

Team: Central Team

Reporting to: Chief Operations and Finance Officer (COFO)

Contract: 52 weeks or Term time only + 2

Grade: 9

Hours/week: 18 or 20

Location: Based at one of the schools in the Trust, with occasional travel to other school sites (hybrid working option available)

Main purpose of the role

Acer Trust is seeking an experienced Data & Systems Lead to help develop the effective use of data and information systems across our family of nine schools. This is a key role within the Trust's central team, working with school and Trust leaders to ensure that our systems and reporting support school improvement, strategic decision-making and organisational effectiveness.

Working closely with the Chief Operations and Finance Officer and the Trust's educational leaders, you will act as the Trust's lead practitioner for its Management Information System and wider data platforms. Alongside maintaining and developing these systems, you will identify opportunities to improve processes, reporting and the way information is used across the Trust. You will lead the development of Trust-wide dashboards, produce ad hoc data analysis, advise colleagues on the effective use of systems, and help implement improvements that reduce administrative burden and provide leaders with meaningful, accessible information.

We are looking for someone who combines strong analytical skills with a practical and collaborative approach to problem solving. You will be comfortable working independently, building effective relationships with colleagues across our schools and understanding how systems can be developed to better meet organisational needs. Experience of Power BI or similar reporting tools is essential, while experience of education data systems would be advantageous but is not essential.

This role would suit someone who enjoys understanding how organisations work, identifying opportunities for improvement and working with others to implement practical solutions. Although experience in education is welcome, we are equally interested in candidates from other sectors who can demonstrate experience of developing systems, improving processes and using data to support effective decision-making.

The role is part-time and based at one of our schools, with occasional travel across Trust sites and the option for hybrid working. The role can be fulfilled on a year-round basis (18 hours per week) or term time plus two weeks (20 hours per week). It offers the opportunity to make a significant contribution to the way information and technology support schools across the Trust.

Acer Trust is a multi-academy trust committed to high standards, collaborative working and continuous improvement across our nine schools in Oxfordshire. If you have the experience, judgement and initiative to help us make better use of our systems and information, we would be pleased to hear from you.

For an informal conversation about the role, please contact hr@acertrust.org.uk to arrange a discussion. To apply, please submit your application via MyNewTerm. The closing date for this role is 5pm on Tuesday 02 September 2026 and interviews will be held on Friday 04 September 2026.
