Are you highly organised, detail-focused and passionate about using data to make a real impact? Edgar Wood Academy is seeking a skilled and dedicated Data, Exams and MIS Officer to join our team and play a vital role in supporting student achievement through accurate data management and the smooth delivery of examinations.
This is a unique opportunity to be part of a values-led and growing secondary school, located in a state-of-the-art building in Heywood. You will work closely with the Systems and Operations Manager and wider leadership team to provide timely, accurate and insightful data to inform school decision-making, while also ensuring full compliance with national exams regulations and statutory reporting.
About the Role
The successful candidate will:
- Act as the school’s Exams Officer, leading the planning and delivery of all internal and external examinations in accordance with JCQ and awarding body regulations.
- Manage and maintain the school’s Management Information System (MIS), currently Arbor, ensuring student data is accurate, secure, and up to date.
- Coordinate the collection, validation and analysis of academic assessment data across year groups.
- Support curriculum leaders and senior staff with high-quality reports, data dashboards, and exam performance analysis.
- Oversee the recruitment and training of exam invigilators, manage the set-up of exam rooms, and lead the secure handling of exam papers and results.
- Lead on statutory returns such as the School Census and Key Stage performance data submissions.
- Support compliance with GDPR through responsible data handling and reporting practices.
- Provide training, advice and support to staff on data systems, including producing helpful user guides and templates.
About You
We’re looking for someone who:
- Has experience working with school MIS platforms (e.g. Arbor, SIMS) and can confidently produce reports and handle large datasets.
- Possesses strong ICT skills, including advanced Excel functions (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, etc.).
- Has experience in exams administration or data management within a school or college setting.
- Remains calm, methodical and professional under pressure, especially during busy exam seasons.
- Has excellent communication skills and can work collaboratively across departments and with external agencies.
- Has an eye for detail, a high level of accuracy, and a commitment to data security and confidentiality.
