Data Manager job summary
Turn data into insight and help shape better outcomes for every student.
St Joseph’s Catholic High School is seeking an organised, analytical and highly capable Data Manager to lead the effective management and use of student data across our school.
This is a key role at the heart of school improvement. You will ensure that our data systems are accurate, reliable and used effectively, providing leaders and staff with the information they need to evaluate performance, identify priorities and support every student to achieve their best.
About the role
As Data Manager, you will take responsibility for the administration, development and quality assurance of our Management Information System, Arbor, alongside key platforms including SISRA.
Working closely with senior and middle leaders, you will coordinate whole-school assessment and data collection cycles, produce clear reports and analysis, and ensure that accurate information is available to support strategic decision-making. The role will also oversee statutory returns, student records, reporting to parents and the effective transfer of data for new starters and leavers.
The successful candidate will:
- Manage and develop Arbor, SISRA and associated data systems.
- Coordinate assessment data collections, including creating marksheets, monitoring completion and checking accuracy.
- Produce high-quality reports, dashboards and analysis for senior leaders, governors, the Trust and other stakeholders.
- Support leaders in analysing attainment, progress, attendance, behaviour and other key performance information.
- Coordinate the production of student progress reports for parents and carers.
- Complete school census returns and other statutory data submissions accurately and on time.
- Maintain accurate student records, including admissions, transfers and leavers.
- Support the analysis of examination results and school performance information.
- Train and support staff to use data systems confidently and consistently.
- Maintain strong standards of data protection, confidentiality and information security.
This role provides the central point through which the school’s academic and pupil data is processed, managed and translated into useful information for school improvement.
About you
You will have excellent analytical, organisational and digital skills, with meticulous attention to detail and the ability to manage competing deadlines. You will be confident working with complex information and able to present findings in a clear, accessible and meaningful way. Experience of working with a school MIS or education data systems would be highly advantageous, although training can be provided for an applicant with strong transferable skills.
You will also be:
- Proactive, dependable and solution-focused.
- Confident working independently and using your own initiative.
- Able to communicate effectively with teaching staff, support staff and senior leaders.
- Committed to maintaining accuracy, confidentiality and high professional standards.
- Willing to learn new systems and keep up to date with developments in school data and statutory requirements.
Why Join Us?
At St Joseph’s, we are proud to be a small, caring school where every student is known, valued and encouraged to achieve their best. You will join a supportive and committed team and have the opportunity to make a visible difference to the effectiveness and success of the school.

Work in a supportive and friendly school environment.
Be part of a dedicated and passionate leadership team.
Enjoy opportunities for professional development.
Comprehensive staff wellbeing package including online GP access and free on-site gym facilities.
Join us in making a difference at St Joseph's!
The Hours:
Full time over 5 days per week. This is a full-time role, and while there may occasionally be a need to stay later for leadership meetings or school events, we’ll work with you to flex your hours in a way that keeps things balanced and manageable.
Term time [38 weeks per year] plus 4 weeks during INSET and school holidays although we may consider a full year contract if that works best for the successful candidate and that would increase the pro-rata salary.
