Location: Downend School

Contract type: Permanent

Hours: 30 hours per week minimum

Working weeks: Term time + INSET + 4 additional days in the summer holidays

Salary: CSET 9, £28,598 FTE. £20,809 - £24,277 prorated.

About the Role

Are you a data enthusiast who loves turning complex information into clear, actionable insights? We are looking for a Data Officer to take ownership of our Management Information System (Bromcom) and analytical platforms.

Reporting directly to the School Operations Manager, and working closely with a collaborative trust-wide data team and Deputy Headteacher, you will be the school’s go-to expert for data management, reporting and software troubleshooting.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining the accuracy of Bromcom and analytical software ensuring student data, timetables and admissions run flawlessly.
  • Designing and running reports, cleansing data from multiple sources, and preparing critical external submissions like school census returns.
  • Acting as the first point of contact for staff queries, providing technical advice and solving data-related challenges.

About You

You are a proactive self-starter who thrives on organisation, accuracy, and working independently. You love diving into spreadsheets, but you also possess the exceptional interpersonal skills needed to collaborate effectively with teachers, trust leads, and external stakeholders.

What you bring to the table:

  • A good standard of general education (NVQ Level 3 or equivalent) combined with proven data management experience—ideally within an educational environment.
  • Advanced ICT skills, particularly with Microsoft Excel and ideally Bromcom or similar school analytical software.
  • Outstanding multitasking and organisational abilities, a knack for creative problem-solving, and the confidence to make decisions under minimal direction.
  • A deep commitment to acting as a positive adult role model and safeguarding the safety and welfare of our students.
