Data, Systems & Insights Specialist job summary

We are looking for a part-time Data, Systems & Insights Specialist to join us as soon as possible on a permanent basis.

This role represents an exceptional opportunity for an ambitious and innovative individual to make a fundamental and far-reaching impact on the systems and processes of a dynamic and forward-thinking educational institution.

With a high level of technical data skills, and a voracious appetite for problem-solving with large datasets, the Data, Systems and Insights Specialist will play a pivotal role in developing and improving how data is managed, analysed and used across St Bart’s. Working with our MIS team (using Arbor), you will build and maintain bespoke live data feeds and develop automated analysis and visualisation tools, including through Google Sheets. You will review existing data processes across the school, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy and accessibility, while contributing to the continued development of our management information systems, data platforms and reporting frameworks.

You will also use your data expertise to develop automated processes to streamline the transition of students from primary schools to St Bart’s, including the import and management of information from digital forms and other sources. You will also help develop systems to support the transition into St Bart’s Sixth Form, ensuring appropriate follow-up with students regarding GCSE and other results in line with school and course entry requirements. Working collaboratively with colleagues, you will provide practical solutions to data management challenges and help ensure that data is used effectively to support decision-making across the school.

HOURS: 20 to 25 hours per week, term-time only, plus 5 training days pro rata. Actual hours to be discussed at interview. In addition, you will be required to work for approximately 5-10 days in August to support processes associated with A level and GCSE exam results. You will be able to take time off in lieu for this in term-time.

The hours can be worked over a minimum of 3 days. There will be the option for some home working once the successful candidate is embedded in the role, however there will be certain periods of the year as well as days and times when the individual will need to be in school.

SALARY: £39481.00 - £43149.00 gross pa (£20.46 - £22.37 per hour), pro rata for part-time, term-time. Starting salary equates to £23380.11 gross pa for 25 hours per week.

St Bart’s is a leading academy school (1938 on roll with a Sixth Form of 586) in West Berkshire.  Road links are good as we are close to the A34 and M4, as well as excellent public transport and within walking distance of Newbury train station.

To find out more about St Bart’s please do take a look at the supporting documents and watch our Headteacher’s Welcome Video on our website https://www.stbarts.co.uk/. We would love to receive your application.

Closing date: Monday 2 November 2026 Early applications are encouraged, as we reserve the right to interview before the closing date.

If selected for an interview, you will be given a tour of the school by our students so you can see first-hand all that we have to offer. If you have any questions, please contact us on 01635 521255 or email recruitment@stbarts.co.uk.

The school prides itself on its academic success and student progress is outstanding with the average progress score for the last 4 years being 0.63. This puts St Bartholomew’s in the top 8% of schools nationally which we are very proud of. A level results are in line with national averages.

Teaching at St Bartholomew’s School is a rewarding experience. Our students are eager to learn, well behaved and proud of their school, and this was reflected in our last Ofsted inspection (November 2021) in which the school was judged as Outstanding in all areas. As a school we are committed to ensuring that all the students and staff realise their full potential. Students leave the school as good citizens and this is underpinned by an exceptional house system and a vast range of extra curricular activities.

The professional development of staff is a significant factor in ensuring that we achieve our aim of improving on our previous best and there are rich professional development opportunities at St Bartholomew’s (see CPD offer on our website under Job Opportunities) at all levels. Our induction and ECT programme for new staff is supportive and thorough and coaching is available for all staff across the school upon request.
