The Deputy Designated Safeguarding and Attendance Lead plays a pivotal role in ensuring every student feels safe, supported and able to thrive. Working closely with the Designated Safeguarding Lead, pastoral teams and academy leaders, you will help to create an inclusive environment where students are empowered to attend, engage and achieve. This is an exciting opportunity for a compassionate and proactive professional who is passionate about making a lasting difference to the lives of young people and their families.

Building strong, trusting relationships will be at the heart of this role. You will work in partnership with parents and carers to identify and overcome barriers to attendance, providing guidance, practical support and access to specialist services where needed. By collaborating with colleagues, external agencies and community organisations, you will help ensure that every family receives the support they need, while promoting a culture where every student's voice is valued and every family feels included within the academy community.

Alongside supporting attendance, you will play a key role in safeguarding across the academy. Working with the Designated Safeguarding Lead, you will help manage safeguarding concerns, contribute to child protection processes, support staff with advice and guidance, and ensure safeguarding procedures are consistently followed. You will maintain accurate records, contribute to multi-agency meetings and help develop a culture where safeguarding remains everyone's responsibility.

We are looking for an individual with excellent communication and relationship-building skills, who is resilient, empathetic and committed to achieving the very best outcomes for children and young people. If you are passionate about safeguarding, removing barriers to education and helping students realise their full potential, we would love to hear from you.

This role will be based at our Nailsea site, and you will need to work closely with the DSL based at the Weston site.

About you:

You will have/be:

  • Knowledge and understanding of current and national issues in relation to safeguarding.
  • Proven experience of working with children or young people.
  • Able to work with parents, external agencies, and the wider community to take a proactive approach to safeguarding.
  • A dynamic nature with innovative ideas and a passion for securing positive outcomes for all students.
  • A keen interest in working with children and young people and a commitment to improving the life chances of students.
  • Under the guidance of the Assistant Principal for Inclusion, the successful postholder will lead on our Online Safety response, ensuring our practices align with current trends and national guidance.
  • Experience supporting families with attendance

Applicants are advised to refer to the full requirements of the role in the attached job description and person specification, prior to submitting an application.
