Job Description: Deputy Catering Manager
(Oakland School part of Calthorpe Academy)
Reports to: Catering Manager
Hours: 30 hours per week, term time only
Purpose of Job
To assist the Catering Manager in overseeing the catering provision at Oakland School and to manage one Catering Staff on site. Deputise for the Catering Manager when required, ensuring the smooth operation of the catering service.
Duties and Responsibilities
To assist the Catering Manager in:
- Planning and preparing menus suitable for Oakland School's offsite provision.
- Overseeing food preparation and ensuring high-quality meals are delivered.
- Monitoring stock levels and placing orders with suppliers.
- Checking, recording, and storing food deliveries according to Health & Safety and audit requirements.
- Sourcing suppliers and ensuring best value in procurement.
- Ensuring Health & Safety checks and records are maintained daily in line with HACCP regulations.
- Maintaining cleanliness and food safety standards in the kitchen.
- Supporting with the preparation of food for other events or functions, when needed.
- Keeping accurate financial records for the Oakland School offsite catering provision.
- Managing and motivating the Catering Staff, ensuring appropriate training and effective deployment.
- Liaising with staff, suppliers, and other stakeholders as necessary.
- Upholding the ethos, vision, and aims of Oakland School.
Specific Duties for the Deputy Catering Manager
- Managing all catering systems and processes at Oakland School's offsite location.
- Recording daily temperature checks and maintaining Health & Safety standards.
- Rotating stock and monitoring expiry dates daily.
- Handling and reconciling all cash and ensuring secure storage, with daily reconciliation sheets submitted to the Catering Manager.
- Deputising for the Catering Manager as required.
- Performing other reasonable catering duties as requested by the Catering Manager or leadership team.
Requirements
The ability to confidently fulfil all verbal communication requirements in English is essential.
