Deputy Cover Manager/Cover Supervisor job summary

You will be responsible for the smooth running of the school’s daily cover system. This involves a mix of early-morning planning and active classroom support:

Coordination: You will be the first point of contact for staff absences each morning, checking emails and phone messages.

Scheduling: You will organise the daily schedule to ensure all classes are supervised, using a mix of yourself, our internal team, and external agency staff.

Classroom Supervision: A key part of your day will involve supervising lessons yourself, delivering pre-set work, and helping students stay focused on their tasks.

Administration: You will help maintain accurate absence records and assist with basic financial tasks like raising purchase orders and checking agency invoices.

What We Are Looking For:

We need someone who is professional, calm under pressure, and enjoys working in a school environment. Key requirements include:

Organisational Skills: The ability to manage a busy morning schedule and prioritise tasks effectively.

Communication: Clear verbal and written skills for working with staff, agencies, and students.

Classroom Confidence: The ability to manage a classroom and support students with their learning materials.

IT Literacy: Comfortable using school systems (like Arbor) and spreadsheets to keep records updated.

Reliability: As the role starts at 7:00 am, punctuality and a flexible approach to the school day are essential.
