Deputy Curriculum Leader for English job summary

This is a fantastic professional opportunity for any passionate and committed English specialist. We are looking to appoint a passionate and experienced teacher who is keen to take the next steps in their career and make a real difference as a middle leader. You will support the leadership of the English Department to build upon their existing success and ensure that our track record for outstanding results at GCSE in both GCSE English Language and Literature can be secured for future cohorts of our students. In 2019 our Progress 8 score for English was +0.66 and 44% of our students achieved a grade 9-7 in Literature. 90% of our students achieved a grade 9-4 in English. The teacher assessed process has indicated that these standards were maintained throughout the disruption caused by COVID 19. Our team of English specialists have well established team planning systems and work collaboratively to develop the engaging and effective English curriculum we have in place at both Key Stages 3 and 4.

Thamesmead is a vibrant and successful school. In 2019 our students gained strong GCSE results. 85% of students gained a 4 grade or higher in English and Maths and 58% of students achieved a grade 5 or higher in English and Maths. 83% achieved 5 GCSEs or more graded at 4 or above.
