Newmarket Academy is a community school on a journey to embed and sustain the significant improvements we have made. Last summer saw our students achieve the best results in the school’s history. We are ambitious to ‘be the best we can be’ for the children who attend our school. Our core values- respect, responsibility and resilience - capture our approach and we are looking for Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead to join us who can model our values and support us on our journey.
We are proud to have been appointed the first lead secondary school in the country for developing the CUSP curriculum (Curriculum Unity Schools Partnership) at secondary level. The CUSP curriculum is well established in the UK and internationally. CUSP is guided by evidence-led curriculum structures, such as retrieval, spaced retrieval practice and interleaving. It is underpinned by explicit vocabulary instruction and research-focused pedagogy. Combining these has led to exceptional outcomes for young people, as a result of coherent curriculum design and instructional teaching.
Newmarket Academy is part of Unity Schools Partnership, a forward-thinking academy trust of 40 schools. At Unity, we value our people, and we have developed a strong culture of collaboration and best practice. Unity Schools Partnership celebrates both professional development and career progression.
We are seeking to appoint an outstanding Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead who will work alongside the senior leadership team and named DSL to oversee operational responsibility for safeguarding within the school.
We are looking for someone who:
• has the ability to work independently as well as part of a team supporting students.
• is motivated and passionate about supporting the well-being and welfare of our students, going the extra mile for our most vulnerable students

The role would suit someone from a social care or police background. Full training around safeguarding in the school context will be given.

In return we will offer:
• Support any CPD required to be able to fulfil the role
