What skills and experience we're looking for
We are looking to appoint a driven and exceptional practitioner who is looking to take their first step into a whole-school responsibility. The role will involve driving and developing the already exceptional reading culture at Debden Park alongside the Reading Team. The successful candidate should be ambitious and innovative so we can build upon the success we’ve had in ensuring, as Ofsted commented, that there is “a sharp focus on reading across the curriculum” at Debden.
In addition, the role would include joining a highly successful, enthusiastic and talented English team to inspire our students’ love of learning.
The successful candidate would be joining an English Team in which every teacher is involved in the development and implementation of a curriculum that challenges and engages every student, develops a love of learning Literature, and ensures all students make outstanding progress, from KS3 to KS5. There can also be opportunities to teach Media and Film at KS4 and KS5 if that suits the candidate’s interests and experiences. We have a passionate and energetic English team, who work collaboratively, are well resourced and dedicated to developing the full potential of our students. The successful candidate will join an already outstanding team and will be someone who is visionary, innovative and committed to moving learning forward in an exciting and active way.
What the school offers its staff
Debden Park High School is a heavily oversubscribed Academy that Ofsted judged to be Outstanding in three areas in 2025. We constantly achieve outstanding outcomes for our students.
We are part of a family of schools within the Kemnal Academies Trust. Every week staff take part in 2 hours of Debden Minds which is a bespoke CPD programme focusing primarily on the development of teaching & learning. We provide exceptional career progression for staff, which leads to our Middle and Senior Leadership teams being composed of many teachers who began their career with us. We lead the Essex hub of the TKAT SCITT.
Commitment to safeguarding
TKAT is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Offers of employment will be subject to the full Safer Recruitment process, including an enhanced disclosure and barring service check.
