Do you believe sport should build confidence, compassion and character in every young person?

Are you ready to show curiosity, courage and commitment by stepping up into leadership and raise participation and performance?

If this sounds like you, Thomas Deacon Academy would love to hear from you!

Your role:

This is a key leadership opportunity for an ambitious and passionate sports educator who wants to make a lasting difference through both lessons and enrichment. Working closely with the Head of Department, you will help shape an ambitious curriculum from Key Stage 3 to Key Stage 5, support colleagues through coaching and quality assurance, and ensure sport across the academy reflects our shared character values.

A key priority in your first year will be expanding our sports enrichment offer and increasing girls’ participation in Key Stage 4 sport. This is your opportunity to be creative and outward‑facing, building inclusive pathways that raise aspiration, strengthen confidence and shape lifelong engagement in physical activity.

You will be an outstanding practitioner who delivers inclusive, high‑challenge lessons that engage students and secure strong progress. Beyond lessons, you will contribute to professional development, curriculum refinement and the daily leadership of the department, confidently stepping up when needed and modelling the professionalism and positivity we expect of our students.

About us:

At Thomas Deacon Academy, sport has the space and ambition to thrive. Set on an exceptional 43‑acre campus, you will work in an environment that genuinely champions physical education, enrichment and participation. Our expansive playing fields and high‑quality sporting facilities provide the platform to deliver ambitious curriculum lessons, grow a vibrant enrichment programme and inspire students to see sport as part of who they are.

Why work for us?:

As part of a forward‑thinking academy and the Thomas Deacon Education Trust, you will also benefit from strong professional development pathways, collaboration with like‑minded colleagues and genuine opportunities to grow as a leader. You’ll be trusted to innovate, supported to take meaningful responsibility and encouraged to shape provision that makes a lasting difference. Here, sport is a powerful driver of confidence, character and aspiration, and you will play a central role in its future.
