At Wodensborough Ormiston Academy we are currently looking for an inspiring leader and excellent practitioner who shares our belief that education is the key to opportunity. As Deputy Head of Faculty – English, you will support the Head of Faculty in leading and developing a high-performing English department. This is a key leadership role, designed to improve outcomes and raise aspirations through excellent teaching, curriculum design, quality assurance, and the mentoring of staff.

You will:

  • Support the planning, delivery, and evaluation of an engaging and ambitious English curriculum from KS3 to KS4
  • Contribute to the leadership of the faculty's teaching, learning, and assessment strategies
  • Embed quality assurance processes, including lesson observations, work scrutiny, and data analysis
  • Drive staff development and contribute to performance management and coaching, including for ECTs
  • Lead initiatives that promote high standards of literacy, student progress, and behaviour
  • Contribute to whole-school improvement strategies, including pupil voice, stakeholder engagement, and inclusive learning

We are a popular and oversubscribed 11–16 mainstream school with the additional expertise and facilities to include two focused SEND provisions,for young people on the autistic spectrum, and for those who are deaf and hearing impaired (ARC and Deaf Academy). Our small and bespoke sixth form (WOA6) caters for students in Years 12 and 13 who have EHCPs.
