Achievement at St Martin’s School is consistently strong.

Outcomes at both GCSE and A level are well above national averages, reflecting high expectations, a rigorous curriculum and a strong culture of learning. Students make excellent progress from above-average starting points on entry to Year 7, with prior attainment typically exceeding national benchmarks.

A significant proportion of student’s secure high grades at GCSE, including strong attainment in English and mathematics. At A level, the majority of students achieve high-grade outcomes, and many progress to Russell Group universities each year, studying competitive subjects such as Medicine, Veterinary Science, Law and Engineering.

All students follow an ambitious and accelerated Key Stage 3 programme in English, mathematics, science and technology, enabling them to begin GCSE courses at the start of Year 9. Teaching and learning are supported by a strong middle-leadership structure, with deputy heads of faculty and regular, purposeful professional development focused on improving classroom practice and securing consistently high outcomes for all learners.

The school’s emphasis on traditional values, high standards and personal responsibility underpins its excellent reputation within the community.
Expectations for behaviour, appearance and work ethic are clear, consistent and well supported, creating a calm, purposeful learning environment. This reputation is reflected in sustained oversubscription, with significantly more applications each year than the available Year 7 places.

With a large, academically focused sixth form, St Martin’s School offers a broad and demanding post-16 curriculum alongside strong pastoral and academic support. Staff are expected to model the highest professional standards, contributing positively to the school’s ethos and reinforcing the values that enable students to thrive academically and personally.

If you feel the school would suit you, and you have the passion, drive and commitment to work with us to make all aspects of our provision outstanding, please apply now.
