Borrow Wood Primary School is seeking an inspirational, committed and forward-thinking Deputy Head Teacher to join our leadership team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a leader who is passionate about children’s learning, wellbeing and development, and who is ready to help shape the next chapter of our school’s journey.
About the Role
Working closely with the Headteacher, you will play a pivotal role in:
- Leading teaching and learning across the school, with a strong understanding of EYFS and/or KS1 pedagogy
- Championing high expectations for all pupils, ensuring every child is supported to succeed
- Embedding and promoting the Borrow Wood BEST behaviours in everything we do, creating a calm, respectful and positive learning environment
- Supporting staff development through coaching, mentoring and collaborative practice
- Contributing strategically to school improvement, while remaining highly visible and approachable
About You
We are looking for someone who:
- Is an excellent classroom practitioner with strong knowledge of EYFS and/or Key Stage 1
- Has proven whole school leadership experience at a senior or middle leader level, and the ability to inspire others
- Is passionate about inclusive practice, nurture and high-quality teaching
- Lives and breathes our BEST behaviours, modelling them consistently for pupils and staff
- Has warmth, integrity and a genuine love of primary education

Borrow Wood Primary School is part of the Odyssey Collaborative Trust (OCT). OCT is a local Derby City trust currently consisting of 7 schools. The trust was formed in March 2019 by the head teachers of the 6 founding schools, who share a strong ethical vision based on retaining the identity and ethos of each individual school, whilst working together to promote and maximize opportunities to provide the best possible education for all children across the Trust.
