Deputy Head Teacher, responsible for Standards in Teaching, Learning and Feedback job summary
To commence January 2022
Due to the retirement of the existing post holder, we are looking to appoint a Deputy Headteacher to lead teaching, learning and feedback across the school as a member of the Senior Leadership Team. This is an exciting opportunity for an exceptional school leader to join John Flamsteed Community School at a time of growth and continuing rising standards as we work towards our goal of becoming ‘Outstanding’ at the next OfSTED inspection.
As Deputy Headteacher, you will be joining a hard-working and extremely driven staff team who are motivated by ensuring the highest standard of education for all learners. This role is pivotal in the next stage of the school’s improvement journey with your expertise firmly rooted in changing the life chances of students through developing classroom practice, teachers’ development and student engagement in learning.
We are looking for a senior colleague who will drive developments forward in teaching, learning and feedback to ensure that the school’s curriculum implementation is modern, exciting and ambitious for all learners. We are less interested in an ‘off the shelf solution’ but rather a bespoke strategy to respond to the individual needs of each curriculum area. You will inspire confidence in students and staff alike so that a culture of continuous improvement pervades all that we do. We firmly believe in ‘one culture for all’ and your vision will reflect this along with the school’s motto ‘Ambition. Resilience and Excellence’
The opportunity to work with the expanding Sixth Form in our sister school, The Ripley Academy, could also be provided as the Executive Headteacher leads both schools.
You will be joining a motivated and experienced senior leadership team who would value different perspectives and insights. This post represents a hugely exciting opportunity for an outstanding teacher and school leader who wishes to progress onto headship in the future.
We do not typically offer pre-interview tours of the school but should you be invited to interview following your application, you are most welcome to contact the Executive Headteacher, Mrs Walton.

Additionally, please contain therein a specific paragraph on what the next steps are for the school in teaching, learning and feedback based on what you can glean from public information about the school such as that published on our website, our OfSTED report (2019) and published performance data (2019). To be no longer than two sides of A4, minimum font 11.
