Deputy Headteacher job summary
The Deputy Head role is available due to our current Deputy gaining Headship. This position is well suited to an ambitious and driven individual who is genuinely interested in adding value to our fantastic community, that will grow from the current 1400 to 1800 students by 2029. The job description is fairly generic and will be adapted to suit the successful candidate’s skill set, areas of strength and future aspirations. The role would be well suited to an experienced Assistant Head or a Deputy that has had experience in a smaller setting. We are looking for an individual that has a healthy balance of focus on achievement, high standards for themselves and others, and can add to our continued emphasis on expecting the very best of staff and students.
Ideally the successful member of staff is available to start at Easter 2024, however we are flexible and recognise that Senior Leaders have commitments to current schools and cohorts, particularly with teaching commitments to classes and subjects. An agreed start date will be set in agreement with the successful candidate and their current school’s Headteacher that works for both parties.
Tours and visits are strongly encouraged, please email cdeller@bedfordacademy.co.uk directly if interested.

The Academy’s exciting curriculum, utilising the latest technology, is designed to meet the needs of the 21st century learner. A broad academic and vocational curriculum is offered, with students taught in sets of similar ability students for the majority of their curriculum.
Student progress is carefully tracked and students are challenged to achieve. The statutory 25 hours per week of study is extended with students receiving 30 hours of taught time, enabling students to build on their strengths and receive support to address any weaknesses.
At Key Stage 4 students select subjects based on their skills and aspirations as individuals. They can choose from a wide range of courses tailored to enrich and enhance the curriculum. The carefully thought out careers and guidance programme, which was recently awarded Investor in Careers status, covers all years and ensures students make informed choices.
