Deputy Headteacher
Bloxwich Academy Primary - Bloxwich Lane, Walsall, West Midlands, WS2 7JT
Salary: Leadership Scale 10 (L10-L13)
Start Date: January 2027 (or earlier if possible)
Following the successful promotion of our current Deputy Headteacher to another school within the Trust, we are seeking an exceptional and experienced leader to join our team.
This is a non-teaching leadership role, providing the successful candidate with the capacity to have a significant whole-school impact. The principal focus of the role will be teaching and learning, including the monitoring, evaluation and continuous improvement of the quality of education across the school.
We are looking for an ambitious professional with a proven track record of driving school improvement and improving outcomes for pupils. You will have a deep understanding of highly effective teaching and learning and the ability to translate this into consistently strong classroom practice across the school.
Working closely with the Headteacher, you will take a leading role in whole-school monitoring and quality assurance, including evaluating teaching and learning, curriculum implementation, pupils’ work, assessment information and outcomes. You will use this evidence intelligently to identify strengths, determine priorities for improvement and ensure that actions lead to measurable impact.
A key part of the role will be working alongside teachers and leaders to continually strengthen classroom practice. You will provide high-quality feedback, coaching, challenge and support, helping colleagues to develop their practice and ensuring that all pupils benefit from consistently high expectations and excellent teaching.
You will be curious, reflective and evidence-informed, with a strong understanding of current educational research and effective pedagogy. You will be confident in evaluating the impact of our provision and ensuring that our curriculum is ambitious, well implemented and enables all pupils to know more, remember more and achieve highly.
Alongside your expertise in teaching and learning, you will bring emotional intelligence, integrity and the ability to inspire others. You will value collaboration, build strong professional relationships and lead with empathy while maintaining high expectations and a relentless focus on improving outcomes for children.
As Deputy Headteacher, you will also work closely with the Headteacher in shaping the strategic direction of the school and driving key whole-school priorities. As a senior leader, you will deputise for the Headteacher when required and contribute fully to the wider leadership and continued improvement of Bloxwich Academy Primary.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a successful and ambitious primary school where children are at the heart of everything we do. The non-teaching nature of the post provides a genuine opportunity to work across the whole school, supporting and developing colleagues, evaluating impact and ensuring that the quality of teaching and learning continues to improve.
If you are an inspirational leader with the expertise, credibility and determination to make a real difference, we would be delighted to hear from you.
