Join Our Team - Deputy Headteacher Opportunity

At Peafield Lane Academy, we are passionate about nurturing a vibrant, ambitious, and caring community where every pupil and every member of staff can shine. Guided by our values and fuelled by PRIDE in all we do, we are thrilled to be seeking an exceptional Deputy Headteacher, who is excited to join our inspiring and forward‑thinking team.

This is a remarkable opportunity for a dynamic, dedicated and experienced teacher who is eager to influence whole‑school success, lead with purpose and make a powerful, strategic impact on the lives of our children and wider school community.

As a proud member of the Flying High Partnership, we believe in delivering an exceptional education that empowers children to reach their full potential. Our school is a vibrant and supportive environment where our children and staff thrive and every child is at the heart of our decisions.

Flying High Partnership is a thriving multi-academy trust of 38 primary schools across Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Nottingham City and Nottinghamshire. We are driven by a shared vision to be unique, exceptional and sustainable. Founded in 2012, we believe in the power of meaningful collaboration to help schools reach their full potential while supporting others along the way.

If you’re an existing or aspiring school leader who is passionate about raising standards, championing inclusion, driving excellent teaching and learning, and inspiring children through our exciting curriculum - and if the idea of making a real difference every day excites you - we’d love to hear from you!

About the Role

As our Deputy Headteacher, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the strategic direction of our school, with a particular focus on high standards, assessment, and curriculum leadership, to develop exceptional teaching and learning. You’ll work in close partnership with the Headteacher, acting as a trusted ‘critical friend’ and supporting the wider leadership team to drive school improvement.

The role includes a teaching commitment and leadership time, balanced to support our school's continuous improvement and your own development. This is a key role for someone with a relentless drive to improve outcomes, who is ready to lead across the school and contribute to its long-term vision.

We Can Offer You:
  • A commitment to people across our partnership, underpinned by our people principles: adaptability, wellness, recognising achievement, employee voice and engagement, professional development and growth, inclusivity, and collaboration.
  • A clear leadership development pathway, including access to the full suite of National Professional Qualifications (NPQs), delivered through our very own Teaching School Hub.
  • Access to extensive, high-quality CPL at every stage of your career, including opportunities to grow as a leader and prepare you for future headship.
  • A leadership role with strategic responsibility, including Standards: Curriculum, Teaching and Learning, Assessment and Inclusion.
  • The opportunity to progress across the partnership, realising your career ambitions.
  • A balance of class responsibility and leadership time, tailored to school needs.
  • Access to an Employee Assistance Programme, offering specialist support including counselling, financial support, and legal advice.
  • A fantastic workplace where magic happens every day for both children and staff.
We Are Looking For Someone Who:
  • Brings energy, enthusiasm, and a genuine passion for inclusive, values-led education.
  • Is a consistently strong classroom practitioner, with high expectations and a belief that all children can achieve.
  • Has experience in whole-school leadership and school improvement with demonstrable impact.
  • Has a strong understanding of whole school evaluation and can use it to inform strategy so that nothing is left to chance.
  • Delights in being with children and puts their well-being and success at the heart of everything, helping them to overcome barriers.
  • Embraces creativity and has a positive outlook on life.
  • Is fascinated by the learning process and actively seeks new ideas and research.
  • Is willing to take risks and explore innovative opportunities to enable every child to thrive.
  • Is committed to continually developing as a facilitator of learning.
  • Loves supporting and inspiring fellow staff and children.
  • Has great ideas and is eager to share them!
  • Sincerely values every member of the school community.
  • Believes in each child and has high aspirations for their achievement
  • Is prepared to go the extra mile to ensure every child gets an exceptional offer!
