What skills and experience we're looking for

We are looking for a Deputy Headteacher with strong leadership skills, a secure understanding of teaching and learning, and a commitment to achieving the best outcomes for all pupils.

The role demands experience in school improvement, curriculum development, staff coaching, and the use of assessment to drive progress.

Effective communication and interpersonal skills are essential for building positive relationships with pupils, staff, parents, governors, and external agencies.

Our Deputy Headteacher must be organised, resilient, and able to lead by example, fostering a positive school culture where children thrive academically, socially, and emotionally within a supportive and inclusive environment.

What the school offers its staff

We offer:

  • a vibrant school environment with inspiring children and a friendly and well-trained staff
  • the support of an experienced governing body
  • the opportunity to work alongside senior leaders who are committed to your development as you progress

Ecclesfield Primary School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare and safety of children. We expect all our staff and volunteers to share this commitment. This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (ROA) 1974. All shortlisted candidates will be asked to disclose any cautions or convictions prior to interview. The amendments to the ROA Exceptions Order 1975 (2013 & 2020) provide that certain convictions and cautions are 'protected' and are therefore not subject to disclosure to employers. Guidance and criteria on the filtering of these cautions and convictions can be found on the Ministry of Justice website.

The successful candidate will be required to complete an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check and a Children’s Barred List check. Please note that it is a criminal offence to apply for this post if you have been placed on the Children’s Barred List. Candidates are asked to read the school’s safeguarding policy, which is available at www.ecclesfieldprimary.co.uk/school-info/safeguarding.

Visits to our school are strongly encouraged and can be arranged by contacting Tracy Lilley, Senior Business Support Officer, on 0114 246 7396. For an informal discussion about the role, please contact the Executive Headteacher, Mrs. Louise Chadwick, on the above number.
