What skills and experience we're looking for

Evelina Hospital School is a value-based school that has been graded as ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted.

We educate children and young people who are patients in the Evelina London Children’s Hospital. The school delivers daily creative education to children and young people aged 2 to 19 years. We aim to provide quality personalised learning experiences so that all pupils can achieve positive educational outcomes and feel valued, nurtured and respected during their time with us.

The Headteacher and Governing Body wish to appoint an inspirational leader, one who is experienced in all aspects of leadership with an excellent record of accomplishment and has the resilience and enthusiasm to work in a busy hospital environment to fill their Deputy Headteacher post. You will take lead responsibility for the day-to-day running of the school and work in partnership with the Headteacher. You will be joining a small and committed team and contribute to the ambitious development of the school and work to achieve our aims to provide outstanding education for all our children.

This is an exciting opportunity for the right candidate. Working in the hospital education sector with pupils with medical needs is both varied and challenging and this would be an ideal opportunity for an experienced teacher looking to develop within their career.

Candidates should have:

  • A proven track record of successful strategic leadership, the skills to promote the ethos and values of Evelina Hospital School, as well as offering high quality support to staff
  • Ability to foster and develop positive relationships across the school and hospital community
  • Experience of providing reports including strong data analysis skills
  • Knowledge and experience of outstanding teaching and learning across key stages
  • An appreciation of the needs and abilities of a diverse range of children
  • Flexible and practically-minded approach to work collaboratively across the school

The Deputy Headteacher will also be expected to:

  • Work creatively and flexible to map the requirements of education onto our unique setting
  • Have responsibility for the development of planning, coverage and delivery of the National Curriculum and teaching and learning policies.
  • Support the Headteacher in the school self-review procedures
  • Carry out performance management of designated staff
  • Lead in safeguarding of the school
