Leadership

Deputy Headteacher, Glenleigh Park Primary Academy, Bexhill on Sea job summary

We are
looking for a talented school leader to join our staff team and play a key role
in ensuring that Glenleigh Park continues to provide high quality education,
support and care for all our pupils and their families. Start date January 2023, but an earlier
start could be negotiated for the right candidate.

We use the Read, Write Inc. phonics (RI) program
from a child’s first term in reception. We believe that children’s growth as a
reader is key to helping them fully access learning into KS2 and beyond. With
this in mind our ambitious aim is for all children to have completed the RWI
program in year 2.

We build on this strong start to reading by working
in partnership with Hackney Learning Trust to deliver Daily Supported Reader
for all pupils in KS1 and Destination Reader in KS2 as we believe it is vital
that our children are instilled with a passion for reading and a strong desire
to read for pleasure.

We are seeking
to appoint an energetic, innovative leader to join our friendly and
forward-thinking team. This role
provides the opportunity for the successful candidate to further develop their
leadership skills and benefit from high quality professional development both
in school and provided by Aurora Academies Trust. The role of Deputy Headteacher is to
play a key role in the senior leadership team of the school. The post holder
will deputise for the Headteacher when necessary. Proactively contribute to the
excellent leadership team at Glenleigh Park Primary Academy and contribute to
the high educational standards at Glenleigh Park Primary Academy.

You
will be a role model in leading the teaching team at Glenleigh Park Primary
Academy to ensure all our pupils achieve their full potential by having
responsibility for creating a learning culture, which enables pupils to become
effective, enthusiastic and independent, life-long learners. The role involves setting high expectations
for teaching and learning, creating a culture that ensures effective teaching
and learning and to evaluate the effectiveness of the teaching and learning on
pupil outcomes.

Glenleigh Park is a school that can offer
exceptional professional development opportunities, high levels of support and
the chance to make a real difference to pupils’ outcomes. We work closely with
other schools in our Trust and there are several opportunities to share ideas
and learn from each other.

This is an
exciting opportunity and the ideal next step in the career of an ambitious
school leader. The successful candidate will be a key part of a great staff
team and their professional judgement and expertise will be highly valued.

We are very
interested to hear what you can bring to the role of Deputy Headteacher and
provide you with the opportunity to find out more about Glenleigh Park and the
opportunity to join us.

Glenleigh Park is a school that can offer exceptional professional development opportunities, high levels of support and the chance to make a real difference to pupils’ outcomes. We work closely with other schools in our Trust and there are many opportunities to share ideas and learn from each other.

Our large modern building, with extensive grounds, provides a fantastic learning environment. Glenleigh Park Primary Academy and Nursery is at the very heart of the Sidley community, and we are committed to our families; making sure that the education we provide for the pupils will raise standards and aspirations for everyone.

Over the past few years, we have redesigned our curriculum, so it ensures that our teaching actively engages pupils to deepen and embed key concepts and skills as well as the transfer of knowledge across the curriculum. Also, we believe that every pupil can be a reader. We work in partnership with Hackney Learning Trust to deliver Daily Supported Reader and Destination Reader and have invested in Reading Recovery as an integral part of our approach to reading; ensuring that no pupil leaves Glenleigh Park unable to read and write and all pupils enjoy reading for pleasure. In addition, we teach phonics from nursery using the Ruth Miskin Read Write Inc programme. We have adopted a mastery approach to the teaching of mathematics and have a trained specialist teacher leading maths.

Glenleigh Park is a fun, exciting and supportive place to work. We set ourselves ambitious targets and know these can be achieved by working together.

Glenleigh Park Primary Academy and Nursery is part of Aurora Academies Trust, an organisation that is committed to nurturing and developing talent. Our seven schools spanning nursery, primary and secondary provision are all judged to be good or better by Ofsted.
