The role is intended to be non-class based; however, there may be some teaching responsibilities in the first year to support the school as it grows. This is a unique opportunity for an ambitious leader to help shape the future of a growing school and contribute to its next stage of development.

Applicants must have a proven track record of raising standards, an excellent understanding and knowledge of improving outcomes for children, and leadership experience.

The postholder will lead by example, motivate others and develop strong professional relationships with all stakeholders to drive the school forward.

You will:

Do you have the passion and commitment to ensure our pupils are the best they can be?

We are looking for an inspirational and visible leader to join our Senior Leadership Team as Deputy Headteacher in September 2026. Your prominent role in the school will mean you will work closely with the Headteacher to support colleagues across the school in developing outstanding teaching practice, harnessing the skills and enthusiasm of all staff and pupils and working in partnership with the Headteacher to drive the school forwards on its journey.

You will have the determination, enthusiasm, and ability to lead, nurture, and inspire the development of high-quality teaching and learning and the ability to motivate pupils and staff and be able to develop strong partnerships working with the school’s community.

Developed skills in strategic thinking, leading to effective planning and progress towards a clear, shared cross-phase vision is essential, as is the need to be creative and show imagination, and often good humour, in response to changing circumstances and new ideas.

Additional benefits working at Harlowbury Primary Academy:

  • Two week October half term
  • Competitive salary

  • A childcare nursery facility on site (under 3 years)
