Horrington Primary School was established on its present site over one hundred years ago in 1896. Our children aged 4+ to 11 years come from the villages of East, West and South Horrington, surrounding hamlets and from Wells. The school has a rural setting overlooking the beautiful Mendip countryside. There are four classrooms, two of which are Eliot classrooms. The main building includes a library/intervention room. Two purpose-built classrooms and the school hall. The school has a large playground, playing field, an early years’ outdoor area and an adventure playground.

Staff and governors aim to provide a caring and happy atmosphere in which children can access an exciting and engaging curriculum that will prepare them for life in the 21st century. We not only aim to develop motivated learners, but also children who are confident and feel good about themselves. We work with parents and carers to achieve these aims. Teaching staff work incredibly hard, know the pupils in their classes well, and have very good relationships with them. We also have a dedicated team of support staff who enhance the school’s provision.

There is a strong team spirit amongst staff and governors, who are keen to ensure we are providing an excellent education for the pupils of Horrington. In December 2022, the school joined The Partnership Trust, a multi-academy trust that serves schools in the surrounding area.

We have an experienced leadership team who support high quality professional development. We are looking for applicants with commitment and passion to educating the whole child and maintaining very high standards.
