DEPUTY HEADTEACHER (PASTORAL CARE)

LPS L17 – L21 (£76,772 - £84,699)

1.0 FTE

ALL YEAR ROUND

PERMANENT CONTRACT

REQUIRED SEPTEMBER OR EARLIER BY NEGOTIAITION

We are seeking to appoint a Deputy Headteacher to join our senior leadership team at a pivotal moment for the school. Given the breadth, scale and strategic importance of this role, we are specifically looking for a leader with significant experience of line managing senior leaders, and a proven track record of driving whole-school priorities.

This post would particularly suit a serving Deputy Headteacher seeking a new professional challenge, or an experienced Headteacher who wishes to step back from headship while continuing to make a substantial and meaningful impact. The successful candidate will be comfortable operating at senior level, providing leadership across behaviour and attitudes, attendance, safeguarding, personal development and inclusion, while deputising for the Headteacher as required. We are looking for someone who sees this role not as a stepping stone, but as an opportunity for long-term commitment. This is a post for a leader who values deep professional relationships, who finds real fulfilment in serving and embedding themselves within the local community.

The successful candidate will be uncompromisingly ambitious for our pupils. They will understand how exceptional personal development provision underpins strong behaviour, positive attitudes and academic success. They will know how to harness this work to ensure young people leave us not only with strong qualifications, but with the confidence, character and life skills to make the absolute most of them as young adults.

This is rare opportunity for an experienced senior leader to play a defining role in shaping the culture, climate and future direction of the school, and to make a lasting difference to the lives of the young people and families we serve.

WE ARE SEEKING A PASSIONATE CANDIDATE WHO:

·        Is an enthusiastic and innovative team player with strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to achieving high standards.

·        Quickly builds rapport and effective professional relationships with both our young people and colleagues.

·        Has a genuine passion for quality learning, pastoral care and excellence and ensures that students are at the centre of every decision.

·        Demonstrates personal resilience and role models those personal qualities we wish to instil in our young people.

·        Is prepared to share good practice and actively seek to continue to explore ways to improve their own and others’ teaching and pastoral care.

YOUR MAIN DUTIES WOULD BE:

To provide strategic leadership for behaviour and attendance, safeguarding and personal development, and to act as Deputy to the Headteacher, assuming leadership responsibility for the school when required.

IN RETURN, WE OFFER:

·        Continuous Professional Development (CPD): Access to National College training, subject-specific CPD, leadership pathways, and mentoring programs.

·        Career Progression: Clear pathways for growth, from early careers to leadership roles. We use a ‘touch base’ informal approach to focus on professional development as well as an annual career conversation with your manager

·        Wellbeing & Support: Leadership training focused on wellbeing, mental health resources, and staff networks.

·        Equality, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI): Commitment to fostering an inclusive workplace, with ongoing EDI training and initiatives.

·        Automatic pay progression for teachers – we don’t have performance related appraisals and pay reviews

·        A paid premium to a Healthcare Cash Plan to claim back contributions towards dental, optical and other medical costs via UK Healthcare

·        24/7 access to an Employee Assistance Programme

·        Benefits and discounts via UK Healthcare
