Acorn Education Trust are seeking to appoint an exceptional and dedicated Deputy Headteacher to join our senior leadership team to drive standards and help improve attendance within Pewsey Vale School. This is an excellent opportunity for a highly committed, student-focused leader who is passionate about inclusion, attendance and raising standards. Required: September 2026.

Pewsey Vale is a co-educational school, educating young people between the ages of 11 and 16 years. Located in the village of Pewsey, our school community works together to ensure that all students are supported to reach their full potential in both their academic and personal development. As a school, we provide a supportive and challenging learning environment where every student is recognised as an individual and empowered to succeed. We believe in teaching that engages students and challenges them to exceed expectation and take risks so they can be resilient, creative and successful individuals. In December 2024 we joined Acorn Education Trust, which provides exciting opportunities to improve local education and draw on collective experience.

The successful candidate will support the Headteacher in managing and improving student welfare, leading on attendance and academic standards within the school, while also ensuring a positive, safe, and inclusive school environment. The role requires a leader who can champion school culture, strengthen systems, and ensure that every student experiences a strong sense of belonging.

  • Can create a culture of excellence around attendance and belonging;
  • Has the ability to raise academic standards across the school and improve student outcomes;
  • Has excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to forge positive relationships with students, families and staff;
  • Has experience of working in a senior/leadership capacity, in a secondary setting (advantageous);
  • Has a solid understanding of safeguarding and is committed to the welfare of all students;
  • Shows relentless drive to improve attendance and student experience;
  • Has the ability to challenge, inspire and motivate colleagues;
  • Is solutions focused, resilient, organised and can remain calm under pressure;
  • Has the ability to contribute positively to the school and the work of the senior leadership team;
  • Has a desire to work within the Multi Academy Trust structure.

We can offer the successful candidate:

  • An ambitious and vibrant place to work, with enthusiastic children and staff who are passionate about learning;
  • A workplace where everyone feels valued and supported;
  • Opportunities for training and progression;
  • The support of Acorn Education Trust, with excellent opportunities to work with experienced colleagues;
  • A supportive and clearly defined induction procedure.
