Grestone Academy, a vibrant and ambitious primary school at the heart of the Handsworth community, is seeking an exceptional Deputy Headteacher to join our Senior Leadership Team. This role offers the chance to lead SEND and inclusion strategy while shaping highquality provision across KS1, at a pivotal moment in the school’s development.

Working in partnership with the DfE and Birmingham City Council, we are establishing a new Resource Base to further enhance our inclusive provision. As Deputy Headteacher, you will play a key role in bringing this vision to life.

The role

As Deputy Headteacher, you will work closely with the Headteacher to drive the strategic direction of the school and ensure the highest standards of teaching, learning, and outcomes for pupils.

You will:

Lead strategically

- Play a central role within the Senior Leadership Team

- Contribute to whole-school improvement, staff development, and quality assurance

- Deputise for the Headteacher when required

Champion SEND and inclusion

- Lead SEND provision as the school’s SENCo

- Drive an inclusive culture with high expectations for all learners

- Oversee EHCPs, interventions, and external agency partnerships

- Lead the development of our new Resource Base

Drive excellence in KS1

- Lead teaching, learning, and assessment across KS1

- Use data and coaching to raise standards and support staff development

- Shape curriculum and pedagogy to ensure high-quality provision

Support the wider school community

- Contribute to safeguarding and pupil welfare as part of the DSL team

- Strengthen relationships with families and the local community

- Lead engagement initiatives that support pupil success
