  • Can demonstrate a strong track record of positive impact to date.
  • Has experience of curriculum design and monitoring

  • Is confident in leading whole staff teams on teaching and learning
  • Is up-to-date in latest research and pedagogical strategies

What the school offers its staff

St Joseph’s RC Primary, Heywood are currently seeking a dynamic and innovative leader to join our school community as a Deputy Headteacher. We are looking for an experienced leader who can inspire both staff and students to achieve excellence in all aspects of the Curriculum and also cultivate a culture of creativity and inclusivity, alongside a lifelong love for learning across the school.

The school has an agreed PAN of 420 and an established and experienced team of teachers and support staff. As a Catholic school, our staff live out our Christian values and visions through their daily interactions with our children and each other. These Gospel values are central to the role of Deputy Headteacher within Catholic Education and at St Joseph’s we aim to develop our children in all aspects of their lives, so that they are provided with a strong faith, the skills and knowledge to take with them throughout their lives, enabling them to live life to the full. We are just as committed to our staff, who we are dedicated to developing and supporting on whichever career path they choose.

St Joseph’s are part of a St Teresa of Calcutta Catholic Academy Trust. This is an exciting opportunity to join the Trust at the beginning of a journey of transition, development, and growth within the multi-academy trust. Being part of the Trust provides school leaders with the chance to strengthen practice through cross-school work and seek experiences beyond our own school. The Headteacher and her Senior Leadership Team are committed to developing staff through access to high quality professional development and mentorship.

Our Mission

Our Trust Mission is simple, it is to make Christ known, making lives better for our communities, our children and young people.

Our Values - One of Hope:

Inspired by St Teresa of Calcutta, we are people of hope. We have a complete belief in the future we will build together. By offering our children, staff and schools’ opportunities to grow and flourish, we make aspiration and ambition a reality. Our people, just like St Teresa are relentless and fiercely ambitious. We will always reach for that which seems to be just out of our grasp.

One of Courage:

As modelled for us by St Teresa of Calcutta, we will have the courage to do what is right. As a community, we will not shy away from making decisions that ensure our communities thrive. We will be brave in our actions. As a truly Catholic organisation this courage will be most apparent in how we collectively support the most vulnerable.

One of Innovation:

St Teresa of Calcutta changed the world. Together, we will always be pursuing new ideas and best practice in all areas of our work. We will prepare our children and young people for the world that awaits them. A world which they will shape and change.

We can offer:

  • A supportive and dedicated Local Governing Body and Staff
  • Highly effective safeguarding procedures.
  • A working environment where all feel valued and respected.
