The specific portfolio for the successful candidate will be matched to their skillset: for us, getting the right person for our school and our team is our number one priority.
About us
The Misbourne is an 11-18 mixed school single-academy trust in the picturesque village of Great Missenden, in the heart of the Chilterns. We have over 1100 students on roll, including a successful and growing Sixth Form. In summer 2024 our students achieved Progress 8 of +0.30, making us one of the top non-selective schools in the County. We are proudly non-selective and inclusive, ensuring that we live and breathe our values: we are a community that values learning, promotes kindness and strives for excellence in all we do. We are the Lead School for Careers in Bucks, and hold the prestigious Quality in Careers Standard.
Our staff tell us they genuinely feel like part of a team; a team who are striving to help each student flourish both academically and personally. We prioritise staff wellbeing, recognising the team as our most valuable asset, as detailed in our Wellbeing Charter.
Our 2026 Ofsted report achieved Expected Standard in all categories and highlighted:
Pupils are proud to attend The Misbourne. They feel well supported and cared for.
Pupils enjoy learning. This is clear in the purposeful atmosphere in classrooms.
Post-16 students show high levels of commitment to their learning. They work hard with staff to develop increasingly sophisticated study skills. This prepares them well for their studies.
Pupils develop warm and positive relationships with staff. This creates a calm and positive environment where pupils feel safe and happy.
Pupils are keen to serve the school community and enjoy the leadership roles they hold.
Pupils achieve particularly well in English and Mathematics. These results are consistently above national averages.
Staff have high expectations of behaviour. This helps pupils to behave well, creating a calm and positive atmosphere throughout the school.
The school has well-established strategies to identify pupils' needs.
The school's offer prepares pupils well for the future. They develop the knowledge, skills, character and integrity they need for life beyond school.
You will become part of a strong leadership team, and a vibrant learning community: a supportive, dedicated and collaborative group of professionals committed to inclusive pedagogy and collaboration on school development, supported by a Trustee Board who share our ambition for the academy to provide the very best educational opportunities for all our young people.
About you
The successful candidate will be a highly motivated, experienced and ambitious senior leader wishing to build upon an existing track record of success within an equally ambitious, forward thinking and inclusive school. You will be a calm individual who can foster positive relationships rapidly; and a supportive leader who can inspire, coach, mentor and direct colleagues. Your journey to-date will demonstrate inclusive leadership and practice, a keen eye for data interpretation, innovation in pedagogical practice, and a commitment to incremental, evidence-informed improvement.
You will have:
A passion for education in its widest sense
A proven ability to lead and inspire others
Experience of leading school improvement
The confidence to lead and inspire staff
Enthusiasm, common sense and good humour.
What we offer you:
An academy that puts wellbeing at the top of their priorities, detailed in our Wellbeing Charter

An experienced, friendly and collaborative team of staff
A two-week October half-term
