What skills and experience we're looking for

Westways Primary School seeks to appoint a talented, enthusiastic and ambitious Deputy Headteacher to join our team from September 2024.

This full time opportunity is perfect for an experienced and successful Assistant Headteacher, or Deputy Headteacher of a smaller school who is looking to expand their teaching career within a newly established leadership team.

The successful candidate will:

  • support the Headteacher in ensuring that the provision for all pupils is excellent;

  • believe in and passionately support the vision and ethos of our school.

  • be an outstanding teacher with a track record of successful leadership and have excellent interpersonal skills;

  • have an excellent understanding and substantial experience of teaching and learning in the primary years and be able to support colleagues to develop further;

  • lead on a range of whole-school initiatives;

  • be able to demonstrate an academic interest in how children learn;

  • demonstrate a commitment towards a relational approach for behaviour management.

The school has undergone a period of significant change over the last two years. The current Executive Headteacher is leaving at the end of this year. The Head of School formally took over in January and will fly solo as headteacher from September! They are looking for a Deputy to help them guide this inspiring school on the next stage of its development.
