Deputy Headteacher job summary
The Governors are seeking to appoint an additional Deputy Head teacher to join the existing senior leadership team in preparation for the opening of a second site in September 2027.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with significant experience of working with young people with a range of special needs, to join a thriving and ambitious school. You must be a strategic leader with a proven track record of impact. You will have a strong work ethic and be able to lead by example.
The successful individual will be responsible for the smooth running of the school on a day to day basis, and will work across both sites.
They will take on a strategic and operational leadership role in one of the following areas:
- Safeguarding and Attendance
- Inclusion and Personal Development
- Curriculum, Teaching and Assessment
- Behaviour and Outreach
The candidate should have proven experience of supporting students who may present very challenging behaviours.
The successful candidate will work as part of a highly motivated leadership team, alongside a talented and committed staff team, with our diverse, inclusive and amazing student population.
You will need to be dynamic, decisive and diplomatic, with proven excellent communication skills at all levels.

Woodlands is a large secondary special school located in the north of Luton. Our mission statement is to 'Empower our young people to become successful adults.'
Our students have severe or profound learning difficulties, some have additional learning needs.
