Overview and Responsibilities

Deputy House Manager – Foxes

Location: Minehead, Somerset

Salary: £29,347.10 - £32,022.02 (FTE £31,720 - £34,611)

Hours: 40 hours per week – Term time plus additional days and training (42 weeks per year)

Additional Information: Shift work is required, including weekends and sleep-ins. Sleep-in shifts are paid at a flat rate of £65, in addition to your annual salary.

The Role

As Deputy House Manager, you’ll work closely with the House Team Leader to create a safe, supportive, and inspiring environment for our students. Safeguarding is at the heart of everything we do, and your priority will be ensuring every student feels safe, valued, and listened to.

You’ll lead by example, setting high professional standards and empowering your team to deliver exceptional care and support. This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll guide your team, manage student behaviour effectively, and foster an environment where students can achieve their full potential.


What You’ll Be Doing

Working collaboratively with your team to motivate students and help them make sustained progress.

Leading, directing, and developing your team to maintain the highest professional standards.

Empowering your team to uphold standards in your absence.

Managing and supporting positive student behaviour.

Guiding and supporting Learning Support Practitioners within your house.

Leading on training, support, and personal development for students, always prioritising their health and welfare.

Working closely with other Deputy House Managers to ensure student success is always the top priority.


Skills and Qualifications

What We’re Looking For

Level 3 in Elklan, Health & Social Care, or Education & Training (desirable).

Level 2 Maths and English (or willingness to work towards).

Experience in safeguarding and supporting people with learning difficulties.

A proactive approach and willingness to undertake training.

Flexibility to work shift patterns, including weekends.
