Deputy Playleader job summary

We are looking to appoint an experienced Deputy Playleader, to work alongside the Club Manager in leading our team during After School Club sessions and Holiday Playschemes. The ideal applicant is a dedicated and experienced Playleader with a minimum of NVQ 3 or equivalent qualification and an understanding of the EYFS.

Key Objectives

Supervise children’s play activities outside of school hours

Oversee play activities to enhance pupils free time, providing safe, creative, appropriate play opportunities

Organise, maintain and clean play equipment, ensuring safe storage

Maintain standards of behaviour that comply with the school behaviour policy

Supervise the transition of pupils from internal to external areas

Set up and storage of portable equipment/resources

Carry out personal care and hygiene duties

Scope

Encourage, support and supervise pupils in play activities during before and after school

Prepare and leads play activities

Supervises the play activities of individual and groups of pupils

Makes decisions about types of play activities undertaken and encourage pupils to engage in activities

Occasionally exposed to emotionally demanding behaviours and situations

To adhere to school, local and national authorities’ guidelines and exercise professional discretion at all times.

Be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection, health, safety and security, confidentiality and data protection, reporting all concerns to an appropriate person.

Participate in training and other learning activities and performance development as required

Contribute to the overall ethos/work/aims of the school

Attend relevant meetings

As a Milton Keynes Council employee the opportunity for further development within childcare is ongoing. Mandatory training in Safeguarding children, First Aid and Food Hygiene will be undertaken upon employment.

Term time hours of work: 25hours per week, 52 weeks per year - 1.00pm – 6.00pm

Holiday Playscheme hours of work: Can vary, but will not exceed 25 hours per week
