Deputy Principal job summary
Oasis Academy Daventry Road is a vibrant, inclusive secondary school at the heart of South Bristol. Since opening in 2023 with its first cohort of Year 7 students, the academy has already built strong foundations and is now on an exciting growth journey.
With a brand-new, state-of-the-art permanent building under construction set to include modern sports facilities, landscaped outdoor areas, and dynamic learning spaces the academy will expand year on year until it reaches full capacity as a 900-place school. This is an exciting opportunity to join us as Deputy Principal and help shape the next chapter of our academy’s journey. We’re looking for an experienced leader who can thrive in a fast-paced, complex environment and who shares our vision of delivering exceptional education for all.
You’ll be responsible for:
- Leading curriculum planning and development across the academy
- Managing timetabling to support effective teaching and learning
- Supporting staff to deliver high-quality lessons and raise outcomes
- Championing student wellbeing, inclusion, and achievement
- Working closely with the Principal and SLT to ensure smooth operations

OADR is a new 11- 16, six forms of entry [180 students per year group] secondary school in South Bristol. The school opened in September 2023 for year 7 students only, initially taking students in Year 7 only, growing year on year with an eventual capacity of 900 young people. OADR opened in temporary accommodation in September 2023 and will move to our permanent site on Daventry Road, in a new, state of the art building in due course.
We are an inclusive Academy, committed to delivering first class education and playing an active role in the local community. OADR is in close proximity to 3 Oasis Primary Academies (Connaught, Marksbury Road & New Oak) and 2 Oasis Secondary Academies (John Williams & Brislington) and as such will benefit directly from close working partnerships and a supportive network.
