Location: Chatham Grammar

We are seeking an enthusiastic and innovative Deputy Subject Leader of Maths to support departmental leadership. The role involves driving high standards in teaching, learning, and assessment; developing engaging, independent learning opportunities; and ensuring curriculum and examination compliance. You will support staff development, monitor student progress, and work with our university sponsor and partners to enhance learning programmes and outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the Subject Leader in the strategic leadership, development, and day-to-day management of the Mathematics department.

  • Promote and maintain high standards of teaching, learning, assessment, and student achievement across the department.

  • Plan and deliver engaging and innovative lessons that promote independent learning and strong mathematical thinking.

  • Ensure the mathematics curriculum is effectively planned and delivered in line with examination board and statutory requirements.

  • Work collaboratively with the University sponsor and external partners to enhance learning opportunities for students.

  • Contribute to whole-academy development, school improvement initiatives, and professional learning across the Trust.

Person Specification
  • Demonstrates strong leadership potential with experience in curriculum development and supporting staff professional growth.

  • Proven track record of improving student attainment and progress in mathematics.

  • Strong knowledge of effective teaching practices, assessment strategies, and current developments in education.

  • Innovative, collaborative, and highly organised with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
