Longdean School

D & T Technician

Contract: Term-Time + inset, 24-37 hours per week

Actual salary: H4 plus fringe – from £22,144 for full time hours (pro rata for part-time staff)

Start Date: June/September 2025

We are seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual to support our friendly Design and Technology Team as a Technician.

This is a great opportunity for those wishing to embark upon a Technician career within a school where D&T is the heart of STEM. The successful candidate will have experience of working within a workshop environment, maintaining and servicing machinery and will have CAD CAM (Laser Cutter and 3D printer) skills, where necessary training will be given. Experience of working within an educational context would be advantageous but training will be given.

Applications are welcome from candidates with previous experience or alternatively, someone who is practical, organised and has the ability to work with minimum supervision once directed.

In your application you must give examples of situations where you have used the skills and competencies outlined in the job description.

Longdean School is a good school (Ofsted November 2019). We strive for excellence by teaching and preparing our young people to have confidence, to accept and respond to challenges, to have an enduring passion for learning and to become independent thinkers with respect for themselves and others.

The School is part of Scholars’ Education Trust (SET), an established, cross phase, multi-academy trust formed in 2012. SET has enjoyed measured growth, ensuring maximum educational impact alongside school, a primary school, an extended secondary, two secondary schools and an all-through school.

Further details and an application form are available from HR at hr@scholarseducationtrust.co.uk, or on 01727 734424. CVs will not be accepted.

Diversity: Scholars’ Education Trust is fully committed to the principles of equal opportunity, diversity and inclusion. We want to attract and retain the very best staff in all areas of the Trust, ensuring our staff body reflects the diversity of our students and local community.

Declaration of criminal offences

The trust is required to give you the opportunity to voluntarily declare convictions, cautions, reprimands or final warnings that are not ‘protected’ as defined by the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (as amended in 2013 and 2020). You will be provided with a criminal self-declaration form by the school if you are shortlisted for the post. All posts in schools are exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. If you are appointed you will be required to have an up-to-date Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Certificate. The existence of a criminal background does not automatically mean that you cannot be appointed but it may do so.

Closing date: 9am, 7 May 2025
