The Foundation’s central offices are based at Sir John Deane’s Sixth Form College campus set in beautiful grounds.

This role is based at The County High School, Leftwich, which is a high performing, fully inclusive, co-educational, 11-16 school with approximately 1050 students, 60 teaching and 60 support staff. The school serves a mixed catchment area with a Published Admission Number of 210, and we are now significantly over-subscribed.

About the Role

The role will be 15 hours per week, 8.30am to 11.30am. Monday to Friday working term time only.

The successful candidate will provide practical and technical support to the D&T department, ensuring the smooth, safe, and effective delivery of lessons across material areas including Timbers, Polymers, Electronics, Textiles, CAD/CAM and Food Preparation and Nutrition. Technicians bring specialised knowledge in materials, processes, or technologies that can enhance the quality of student work, they will need to support the setup of complex projects and machinery. Design & Technology technicians assist teachers in delivering practical lessons safely and efficiently, to work under the teacher’s supervision, following all school safety systems.

What we are looking for

  • Achieved Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate
  • Hold relevant vocational qualifications (eg. Engineering, Catering, Textiles, COSHH)
  • Energetic, able to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Flexible approach and positive attitude towards work
  • Confidence in using a range of tools, machinery, and digital equipment (e.g. printers, laser cutters, CNC machines)
