Design Technology Technician job summary

  • To provide technical support to the Design Technology department.
  • Support the Subject Leader, prioritising all Health & Safety issues to create a safe and secure environment for staff and students.
  • Practical teaching areas, tools, machines and equipment to be checked on a weekly basis, including checking the ventilation pressure in the cutting room and hoovering the dust and clearing the sawdust from machines. Saw blades to be checked on a daily basis. The Laser Cutter also to be cleaned and maintained.
  • The candidate will be responsible for the cutting of resources for KS3 at the beginning of each rotation and for KS4 more frequently, and to order, once GCSE practical begins.
  • Order materials and equipment, as required by the Teacher
  • Act on proposals from SLT to ensure Health & Safety compliance.
  • Other related jobs, such as tidying up and setting out equipment, as required by the Teacher. The candidate will need to tidy, bin and declutter after each rotation.
