What skills and experience we're looking for
We are looking to appoint a person not only with the skills and knowledge to complete the work, but also someone who has a real enjoyment for design technology. Someone who is willing to support the students and teachers complete their project work in Design Technology and engage with their learning by supporting the teaching staff. As a key member of the faculty, you will be joining a friendly, and highly successful team.
Main duties and responsibilities include:
- Prepare materials and equipment in order to ensure that the correct resources are available for practical lessons.
- Deliver equipment to classes and collect, check, and return equipment to the stores to ensure that it is safely, securely and appropriately stored.
- Carry out maintenance checks and arrange for repairs as necessary to ensure that all equipment is safe and ready to use in lessons.
- Undertake stock checks and ensure that all tools are stored safely and secure to ensure the health and safety of students and staff in the school.
- Perform health and safety checks and ensure equipment and workshops are clean and tidy in order to maintain a safe and stimulating learning environment for students.
- To assist with departmental displays and the preparation, mounting and installation of work around the school.
- Delivering and maintaining CAD/CAM equipment in the department.
- To assist with reprographics, CAD/CAM and ICT administration.
- To assist with the documentation of students’ work and to distribute work back to students.
- Provide information for students and teachers on the correct way to handle equipment and tools in order to avoid accidents and/or damage to equipment.
- Keep record of orders made and budgeting details.
- To undertake any other reasonable duties as required by the faculty leader or DT staff.
