Join Astrea Academy Trust as a Designated Safeguarding Lead!

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) to join our dedicated team at Astrea Academy Trust. This central role will be deployed across South Yorkshire Primaries, leading safeguarding, child protection, and online safety across the primary academies. You will play a pivotal role in creating a strong culture of safeguarding, ensuring the welfare of our students is always the top priority.

Is This You?

  • You’re enthusiastic, highly motivated, and passionate about safeguarding.
  • You have experience developing and maintaining strong cultures across teams.
  • You’re confident in managing disclosures, referrals, and multi-agency safeguarding processes.
  • You have a strong understanding of Keeping Children Safe in Education and other key legislation.

About the Role

As the Central Designated Safeguarding Lead, you will support the Head of Safeguarding and be responsible for leading safeguarding, child protection, and online safety across our South Yorkshire primary academies. You will:

  • Develop and maintain a strong safeguarding culture.
  • Manage safeguarding disclosures and referrals.
  • Liaise with external agencies and internal stakeholders.
  • Lead on safeguarding policy development and staff training.
  • Act as strategic lead for attendance and support early help interventions.
  • Ensure effective use of CPOMS and quality assurance of safeguarding records.
