Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) - non teaching job summary
Hours: 8:15 – 4.00 (4.30 once/fortnight with flexibility to stay if there is a serious case) for 42 weeks per year (term time + training days + 15, to be used flexibly through school holidays)
Bishop Stopford School’s safeguarding is judged to be Outstanding (Ofsted, May 2025). We have built a highly effective safeguarding culture and are now looking for our next strong leader to join the team.
Our Deputy DSL is retiring after giving sterling service alongside our DSL in leading the development of culture and practice. We are looking forward to appointing someone who can continue this strategic development and provide strong quality assurance of our processes. You will also be a role model to all in our academy for your own robust safeguarding practice.
You will have significant experience in safeguarding and working with young people either in educational settings or related areas beyond schools and colleges. With nearly 200 staff, you will also lead professional development and support staff in ensuring consistently excellent safeguarding practice.
