About the Role

We are seeking an experienced, committed, and highly effective Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) to join our Extended Leadership Team. This is a pivotal non-teaching role responsible for leading and managing all aspects of safeguarding and child protection across the school.

The successful candidate will champion a strong safeguarding culture, ensuring that the welfare of children remains at the heart of all decision-making. Working closely with senior leaders, staff, families, governors, and external agencies, you will provide strategic leadership and operational oversight to ensure the highest standards of safeguarding practice.

About the School

Burnt Mill is a caring and friendly school and our students tell us that when they come to school, they feel happy, safe and they enjoy their learning. This positive environment, where our students are supported and inspired to be the best that they can possibly be, enables every child to thrive. Indeed, many pupils enjoy school life so much that they often stay until 5.00 pm to continue their studies or to participate in extra-curricular activities.

About the Trust

BMAT is a thriving community of schools, committed to providing an outstanding education for every student attending one of our schools. We create environments where individuals matter, confidence flourishes, and every child can achieve exceptional outcomes.

We currently oversee seven secondary academies and five primary academies, primarily located in Harlow, with additional sites in Newham and Stansted.

The Trust’s vision is clear - to work together to smash through the barriers that prevent children from becoming confident, high-achieving, and independent individuals.

What can BMAT offer you?

BMAT provides a range of benefits to support your personal and professional well-being:

  • Enhanced and flexible PPA
  • Generous employer pension contribution through Teachers Pensions or Local Government Pension Scheme
  • Private healthcare benefits, including 24/7 Doctorline access
