The governors at Sherwell Valley Primary School are looking to appoint an exceptional individual to our post of Designated Safeguarding Lead (non-teaching).
You will be required to work such hours as necessary to meet the demands of the role with a minimum number of hours to be worked of 35 hours per week during term time. The post holder will be responsible for maintaining safeguarding services in which all staff understand the needs of vulnerable children at risk; that they can identify those at risk, refer appropriately to the relevant agencies, provide reports for partner agencies and develop a culture in which the safeguarding needs of children and adults are recognised and appropriately managed.
The DSL will report directly to the Head Teacher / SLT team and is the school’s leading support staff professional within the Safeguarding Team, working as part of the extended Senior Leadership Team to assist our Head Teacher in her her duty to ensure Sherwell Valley Primary School meets its educational and safeguarding aims, maximising the efficient and effective use of its available resources. This is an exciting opportunity to join our established school and team.

The successful candidate will have:
• Degree level education.
• Be forward thinking and able to work independently.
• Be able and confident to work alongside the schools SLT team.
• Experience of relevant safeguarding learning programmes/strategies/codes of practice.
• Understanding of relevant policies/codes of practice and awareness of relevant legislation.
• Understanding of principles of child development and learning processes and barriers to learning.
• Must be an organised individual and manage the administrative demands of the role.
• Experience of working in a school setting.
