We are seeking a dynamic, engaging and innovative subject specialist to lead our English department. Candidates should have excellent communication skills, a track record of improving results and a passion for English.

The English Faculty has a long-established history of exam success in English. In 2026, 85% of students gained grades 9-4 at GCSE; 33% of those grades were 9-7 placing Verulam’s results in the top 20% in England. Our Sixth Form is co-ed and our subject offer includes A Level Literature (AQA).

Verulam places great emphasis on extra-curricular activity and engagement and benefits from outstanding attendance and exemplary behaviour.

Verulam School is a high achieving boys’ school with a mixed Sixth Form, which forms part of the highly successful BeauSandVer consortium. As a school, our core values of “Excellence, Character, Respect” permeate all that we do. We are located in St Albans, a beautiful and vibrant Cathedral city with a lively cultural life and a huge variety of restaurants, bars, pubs and shops. The school has excellent GCSE and A Level results. It was judged to be a Good school in all categories by Ofsted in May 2024.
