Director of Learning - Arts job summary

Leigh Academy Blackheath are looking for a Director of Learning (DoL) - Arts, to lead the following curriculum areas: Art, Music and Drama. This is a brand new position as the academy continues to grow and develop. Joining us from September 2021, our DoL Arts will bring with them passion, experience and the capacity to inspire and motivate students and staff. The ideal candidate will also have an understanding of how the Arts can be developed as key subjects within the curriculum, but also as an essential part of our co-curriculum offer through clubs, societies and regular concerts, theatrical performances, exhibitions and festivals. This role is ideal for those seeking career progression and a keen interest in working for our highly successful academy. We welcome applications from experienced practitioners in any of the three Arts curriculum areas.

What we will expect of you: Our appointed candidate will successfully lead this group of curriculum areas, and you will play a key role in inspiring the staff, as well as our students with your outstanding leadership. We will also expect you to successfully plan and deliver outstanding lessons on a daily basis that challenge our students and significantly advance their learning. We anticipate you will achieve this by being passionate about your subject and transferring your knowledge in a creative and efficient way in the classroom.

Being a part of Leigh Academies Trust: As of 1st September 2020, our Trust will comprise 28 geographically organised academies (11 secondaries, 15 primaries and 2 special) educating over 16,000 students, and employing over 2,500 talented staff.
