What skills and experience we're looking for
We are looking for a colleague who has:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a BA degree in English or a related subject.
- A successful track record as a teacher that demonstrates high quality teaching and learning and positive impact on learner outcomes.
- Experience of leading a team.
- Deep understanding of strategies to increase pupil motivation, personalise learning, and raise attainment levels.
- Experience of leading on intervention initiatives.

Are you an ambitious and inspiring leader ready to make a significant impact on learner outcomes? Following the promotion of the previous post holder, St Hild’s Church of England School is seeking a Director of Learning for English to lead, develop, and evaluate our English curriculum across Key Stages 3 to 4.
As a key member of our leadership framework, you will work closely with the senior leadership team to formulate overall school aims and policies, manage vital resources, and monitor progress towards our strategic goals. In this role, you will hold accountability for the educational outcomes of all English learners and lead a dedicated team of teachers and support staff, driving high academic standards and delivering an ambitious curriculum.
Our school is one of eight primary and secondary schools within the NEAT Academy Trust family of schools. At the heart of our trust is the aim to nurture, educate, achieve and transform the lives of all young people within the communities we serve across the North East. We have a national research school, which aims to build and strengthen networks of schools throughout the region and help them access effective education research and implement it in everyday practice.
