Director of Learning for Design & Technology, Food, Art and Computing job summary

We are a dedicated, creative and highly successful team of subject specialists, supported by 3 technicians. The department occupies 9 specialist classrooms including a catering kitchen, which are all equipped with PCs and projectors. We share a workroom and prep room, which becomes a place for the team to congregate during breaks, fostering an extremely supportive and friendly atmosphere. All of the team are engaged in research-led development projects to collaboratively improve our practice, and our culture of sharing ideas and strategies leads to innovative and dynamic teaching across the year groups.

At Key Stage 3, all students balance different skills through a common creative approach and rotate between the Design Technology specialisms of Product Design, Food Prep & Nutrition, Textiles. Art & Design and Computing are taught as discrete subjects.

At Key Stage 4, students can choose from 7 KS4 courses to study in Years 10 and 11. As a team we are looking to continually improve our delivery of content through sharing best practice. Our curriculum is carefully structured and well-resourced, and seeks to foster a love of the subject in all learners. We make full and creative use of online resources.

We particularly welcome applications from candidates with experience in teaching Product Design.
