Leigh Academies Trust is now recruiting for the Director of Learning for Science at Mascalls Academy who will join us in January 2021; a truly rare departmental leadership opportunity within a very successful academy. This is a high profile post with our academy alongside the Directors of Maths and English; a core group who are the first to contribute to our continued success and direction alongside our school leadership team. The position suits both those already experienced in leading a department as well as those looking for the next step.

Overseeing existing TLR holders you will be responsible for securing the best possible outcomes for our students. We expect all of our students to be challenged, to be inspired and to achieve beyond expectation; this will be your focus. We expect the Director of Science to support the further development of a positive culture and ethos where every child is expected to do well and their progress is supported every step of the way.

Our successful candidate will be a talented and highly motivated leader with drive and commitment to excellence as well as strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to communicate to a range of stakeholders. You will be leading a supportive, committed and passionate team who work hard to ensure that all of our students achieve their potential. We are looking for an exceptional professional who can demonstrate leadership and excellent management skills, and a proven track record of success in raising standards within the Science subject area, preferably in a non-selective setting. This is an exciting time to join our academy and the Science Department. The successful applicant will be a key member of the academy leadership and will model our challenge wheel pedagogy.
